Religious Liberty Issues in Healthcare

The Religious Liberty Initiative and the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture are held a panel discussion titled “Religious Liberty Issues in Healthcare” on Wednesday, October 26, at 5:00 p.m. in the Eck Courtroom, followed by a reception in the Eck Commons. The panelists were Peter Banko, CEO of Centura Health; Dr. Lydia Dugdale, Director of the Columbia Center for Clinical Medical Ethics; Rabbi Shmuel Lefkowitz, President of Chayim Aruchim; and Louis Brown, Executive Director of Christ Medicus.

The panel addressed issues ranging from the legal challenges facing religious healthcare systems, cultural challenges facing medical students and doctors, the protection of religious rights of minority religions, and current issues in medical licensing and regulation. The panel was moderated by the Director of the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture, O. Carter Snead.
