In the Mouth of the Wolf: A Murder, a Cover-Up, and the True Cost of Silencing the Press

Former Visiting Fellow Katherine Corcoran returns to the Kellogg Institute to launch her new book, which she worked on during her fellowship. In the Mouth of the Wolf: A Murder, a Cover-Up, and the True Cost of Silencing the Press investigates the murder of legendary journalist Regina Martínez as she was on the verge of exposing government corruption in Mexico. Corcoran and friends of the victim together battled cover-ups, narco-officials, red tape, and threats to sift through the mess of lies – and discover what got Regina killed. This thrilling story looks at how silencing the free press threatens basic protections, the rule of law, and democracy itself across the globe.

Join us as Kellogg Faculty Fellow Guillermo Trejo, lead researcher for the Violence and Transitional Justice Lab, and special guest Alejandra Xanic von Bertrab Wilhelm, a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist from Mexico, offer commentary on the book, with Emeritus Professor Robert Schmuhl moderating the discussion. Join us on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. ET.
