Fr. Ted Said… Peacebuilding & Security: Jude Ash ’17 M.A.

Jude Ash ’17 M.A., a Kroc Institute Ph.D. student and founding chair and CEO of New Syrian Human, speaks as part of the Alumni Association’s Fr. Ted Said Speaker Series unveiled at Reunion 2018. The series offers thought-provoking talks by ND faculty and alumni that explore the world’s most pressing problems and honor the legacy of Fr. Hesburgh.

Jude Ash (Syria) is a peace and human rights activist with over a
decade of experience working with trauma-afflicted communities in Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, and the U.S. During his time in the field, he founded and led several initiatives, including the Psychosocial Support Department at the Syrian Red Crescent (2009) and the first e-newspaper to publish in the Syrian spoken language. In 2014, and in response to the Syrian civil war, he founded New Syrian Human, a Syrian-International nonprofit that provides communitybased trauma therapy, empowerment, and peacebuilding services to Syrians. Ash holds an M.A. in Peace Studies from Notre Dame, where he is currently a Ph.D. student.
