Celebrating 20 Years of the Journal of Global History

Join us at Notre Dame London for a special lecture and reception marking the 20th anniversary of the Journal of Global History (JGH), one of the leading publications in the field.

The event will include a distinguished lecture by Professor Stefanie Gänger (Heidelberg University), reflecting on how global historical studies have evolved over the past two decades and considering future directions for the field. Her talk, entitled “Come a Long Way: The Global Historian’s Craft, Twenty Years On” will be followed by a reception. This lecture will be held at 4.30 GMT/ 12.30 EST and will be available to attend either in person or online via livestream.

This event is hosted at Notre Dame London in partnership with Cambridge University Press, the publisher of the Journal of Global History. Join us on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. ET.

Professor Stefanie Gänger
Stefanie Gänger is a Professor of Modern History at Heidelberg University and a leading scholar in global history, with research spanning the histories of medicine, science, and knowledge in the long nineteenth century. She is the author of Relics of the Past (Oxford University Press) and A Singular Remedy (Cambridge University Press), and co-director of the Balzan Research Group Rethinking Global History. Her work has been recognized with major international awards, including an ERC Consolidator Grant, and she has held fellowships at institutions such as the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science.
