Dear Friends,

Why are we proud of the Kellogg Institute? The Kellogg Institute for International Studies brings the best of interdisciplinary inquiry to bear on research themes relevant to contemporary societies around the world. Drawing faculty fellows from across the University, students, and visiting scholars, the Institute promotes research, provides exceptional educational opportunities for students, and builds linkages to support the University’s strategic goals on internationalization.

The Kellogg Institute for International Studies, part of the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame, promotes research excellence on critical global challenges, with a particular focus on democracy and human development. Building on a core interest in Latin America and Africa, Kellogg fosters research on the developing world and beyond. Supporting the research and educational mission of the University by engaging faculty, students and visiting scholars in a supportive intellectual community, the institute helps to project the University onto the global stage.

The Kellogg Institute is a unique community of scholars and a center of research excellence. More than 130 faculty members from 26 departments and programs at Notre Dame form the core of the Kellogg intellectual community, with more than 100 doctoral affiliates complementing their ranks. Conducting research on a range of international issues, they are the prime movers behind the Institute’s lively interdisciplinary lecture series and scholarly conferences.

Now more than ever, the world needs individuals with the desire, skills, and adaptability to engage in important global issues amid ever changing landscapes. The Kellogg Institute provides Notre Dame undergraduates with exceptional opportunities in international research and global experiential learning, preparing students with the training and skills needed to adapt and engage in meaningful work, whether in the field or in an office, abroad or from home.

It was my long-standing connection to Kellogg that drew me back to Notre Dame in 2018, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to lead the Kellogg Institute in 2022 as we celebrate our 40th anniversary year.

Sincerely,

Aníbal Pérez-Liñán
