Sacred Places of Notre Dame

For many, the Christmas season can be a balancing act. The realization of time with family, co-worker gatherings, a few days away from work, and, of course, the celebrations, can be offset by the unsteady acts of preparation. Shopping, finances, loneliness, and even those political conversations around the family table, can dampen even the most engaged spirits.

For Christians and Catholics, preparing for Christmas is a season all of its own—Advent. During the better part of four weeks preceding Dec. 25, we prepare their hearts and minds for the Lord’s birth. Even with a “season before the season,” many also struggle with complexities and time pressures at the end of each year.

Each year during Advent, the Notre Dame Alumni Association seeks to provide its alumni, parents and friends with a digital journey to help them find more balance in their faith and personal lives while also developing a deeper connection to our Catholic mission and traditions.

Sacred Places of Notre Dame unveiled a new video each day featuring an ND family member sharing their stories and reflecting on places on campus that hold special meaning to them. They included beloved locations like the Grotto and the rotunda in the Main Building, but also more unexpected locations such as a bench along the lake and the choir loft.
