Registration – Virtues & Vocations

Virtues & Vocations is a national forum housed at the Center for Social Concerns at the University of Notre Dame for scholars and practitioners across disciplines to consider how best to cultivate character in pre-professional and professional education. During our webinars, we will consider issues related to character and work, how to pursue virtues such as hope and wisdom within higher education and the professions, and how mental health and moral purpose connect to human flourishing.

In the first virtual event in Virtues & Vocations: Conversations on Character and the Common Good, we are pleased to welcome Lydia DugdaleJonathan Wilson-Hartgrove, and Brandon Vaidyanathan to discuss Hope, Human Flourishing, and Higher Education. Through their research, each has developed a unique emphasis on the importance of hope and its role in human flourishing. The live conversation will include time for audience questions. Join us Monday, August 28, 2023 from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm ET.

Subsequent sessions will focus on:

  • Monday, September 18, 2023: Virtues & Vocations Presents Laurie Patton on The Higher Calling of Education
  • Monday, October 9, 2023: Virtues & Vocations Presents John Silvanus Wilson on Universities, Democracy, & Lessons from HBCUs
