At theNotre Dame Environmental Change Initiative(ND-ECI), more than 60 faculty from all seven colleges and schools are pursuing research solutions to today’s most critical environmental challenges, such as land use change, climate forecasting, resource depletion, invasive species, water quality, and more.
ND-ECI is dedicated to globally relevant, interdisciplinary research that informs management and policy solutions that help make the world a better place for humans and the environment upon which people depend. We call it “Science Serving Society.”
With these talented faculty, we are training the next generation of scientists and engineers to engage across disciplines so that Notre Dame students and postdoctoral scholars work (and learn) side-by-side on emerging environmental research.
With novel research infrastructure, such as the Linked Experimental Ecosystem Facility(LEEF), and cutting-edge tools such as those created by the Global Adaptation Initiative(GAIN), ND-ECI fosters a collaborative community of scholars whose research will help provide win-win solutions that minimize the trade-offs between human welfare and environmental health.
As Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C reminds us, “We must continue to educate our students and ourselves about environmental matters and sustainability practices and develop individual and collective habits that sustain the environment.”
At ND-ECI, we are committed to advancing research and scholarship to help protect our common home for generations to come!
Onwards!
