Dear friends,

Today is born our Savior, Christ the Lord! Let us sing “Glory to God in the highest” with the heavenly host of angels. Let us hasten to Bethlehem with the shepherds. Let us gather around the manger with the ox and ass. Let us gaze in wonder at the newborn Messiah with Mary and Joseph and give thanks to God for the gift of his Son, Jesus. O come, let us adore him, Christ the Lord!

Since its founding in 1970, the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy has sought to renew the Church through robust liturgical formation, serving as a source of education, formation, and inspiration for the men and women of faith who have dedicated their lives of Christian discipleship to building up the Church. Our home at Notre Dame, the McGrath Institute for Church Life, partners with Catholic dioceses, parishes, and schools to address pastoral challenges with theological depth and rigor. By connecting the Catholic intellectual life to the life of the Church, we form faithful Catholic leaders for service to the Church and the world.

In support of the Eucharistic Revival recently announced by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and as a way of promoting deeper affiliation with the Church, our current focus is on fostering a Eucharistic culture in parishes, schools, and dioceses. Tim O’Malley, our academic director, beautifully defines it this way: “By culture, we mean the worldview and practices that the parish shares in common. A parish is not a bureaucracy but a communion of love made possible through the self-giving love of Jesus Christ. A Eucharistic culture lives out this communion in love in every aspect of parish life. Learning to foster this culture in a parish is the ultimate end of a Eucharistic revival, one that can heal the many divisions that exist in Church and society alike.”

We invite you to enjoy the resources of the Notre Dame Center for Liturgy on ThinkND, and to join with us as we celebrate Christmas on Campus with ThinkND.
