Newman and the Religion of the Future and the Future of the Academy

Archbishop Anthony Fisher, OP, Archdiocese of Sydney, offers a reflection on “Newman and the Religion of the Future and the Future of the Academy,” exploring how Catholic institutions of higher education play a crucial role in bringing forth St. John Henry Newman’s understanding of Christianity as the religion of the future.

Archbishop Fisher has led the Archdiocese of Sydney since his appointment in 2014. He holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney, a PhD in bioethics from Oxford, and has published extensively in bioethics, moral theology, history, law, and spirituality, including (most recently) Catholic Bioethics for a New Millennium (Cambridge University Press, 2012); War and Terror, Peace and Hope (St Paul’s, 2018); and My Dear Young Friend: Letters on Youth, Faith and Future (St Paul’s, 2018).
