Fr. Ted Said… Bridge Builders: Tracy Kijewski-Correa ’97, ’00 M.S., ’03 Ph.D
Around the world, many observers are concerned about losing a sense of community as fewer and fewer people feel a responsibility to care for others. With a growing and often welcome emphasis on individual rights and freedoms, how should we—individually and collectively—think about our responsibilities to one another? In a world where ideological and cultural divisions seem to have deepened and caused terrible suffering, we are called to build bridges between people to face the challenges of our times. Tracy Kijewski-Correa ’97, ’00 M.S., ’03 Ph.D is the William J. Pulte Director of the Keough School’s Pulte Institute for Global Development, professor of engineering and global affairs, and co-director of the Integration Lab (i-Lab) in the Keough School of Global Affairs at the University of Notre Dame. Kijewski-Correa also is a fellow of the Keough School’s Kellogg Institute for International Studies. Kijewski-Correa’s research focuses on disaster risk reduction and civil infrastructure challenges posed by increased urbanization and vulnerability.
