Rob Corbet

Rob Corbet is Head of Arthur Cox’s Technology Practice, the largest legal team in Ireland dedicated to specialist IT, data protection, and Intellectual Property law.

Corbet’s practice is primarily focused on technological innovation and, in particular, the protection and commercialization of data and other forms of intellectual property. Corbet also leads their Privacy, Data Protection, and Information Management practice, where he has unrivaled experience in all aspects of privacy, data protection, and cyber-security law. He has represented many clients in their dealings with the Data Protection Commission and he has personally defended multiple clients in prosecutions brought by the Data Protection Commission in respect of data security, direct marketing, and other offenses. Corbet’s Betting and Gaming practice is market-leading, reflecting two decades of experience.

Jing He '00 J.D.

Jing He ’00 J.D. is a specialized legal practitioner with more than 20 years’ experience in handling complex China litigation, intellectual property, antitrust, policy advocacy and compliance matters. He started his legal career as a U.S. patent attorney and spent nine years in a major international law firm before starting his private practice in China. A number of his cases were listed as top IP cases by Chinese judiciary authorities. Major industrial associations often consult with He on China legal and policy matters.

He is passionate about making policy changes and contributing to rule of law reforms in China. He was the key consultant conducting a U.S.-China IP dialogue where top U.S. and China experts convene and deliver roadmap documents for China IP reforms. He also leads the policy programs as the executive director of Beijing Zhongguancun Intellectual Property Strategy Research Institute.

He was selected as a Recommended Intellectual Property Lawyer by Chambers Asia-Pacific guide and Managing Intellectual Property. Other industrial awards he has received include WTR’s World’s Leading Trademark Professionals, Legal 500’s Recommended Intellectual Property Lawyer and Lexology’s Client Choice Award. He is admitted to the State Bar of California and China. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with his J.D. in 2000 and obtained his LLB and BSc from Peking University in 1997.

Mark McKenna '97 (Moderator)

Mark P. McKenna ’97 is the John P. Murphy Foundation Professor of Law at the Notre Dame Law School and the Director of the Notre Dame Technology Ethics Center. His research focuses on intellectual property and privacy law, with a particular focus on the ways different regulatory regimes interact with each other. He has published more than 50 articles in leading journals and was the author or co-author of five of the ten most-cited articles in his field during the period of a recent study.  

Professor McKenna joined the Notre Dame Law School faculty on a permanent basis in the Fall of 2008 after visiting for a semester in the Spring of 2008. He has also been a visiting professor at Stanford Law School, the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center, and the Turin University-WIPO Master of Laws in Intellectual Property Program. Before entering the academy in 2003, Professor McKenna practiced with the intellectual property firm of Pattishall, McAuliffe, Newbury, Hilliard & Geraldson, where he litigated trademark and copyright cases and advised clients on a variety of intellectual property matters. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Virginia School of Law.
