Notre Dame Jerusalem: Our Voices 2024

Dear friends and partners,
Undoubtedly, this has been the most challenging year for our center and team, with the angst and despair on a regional level accompanied by operational and logistical difficulties for us on the ground. And yet, our team recognizes how blessed we are. We are grateful to the University, our division at Notre Dame Global, and all our partners who supported our efforts to further enhance and, at times, entirely redesign our offerings in a manner that was faithful to Notre Dame’s mission to be “the leading global Catholic research University, on par with but distinct from the world’s best private universities.”
Through these collaborations and partnerships, our educational programs attracted over 130 students and program participants, and our research and outreach initiatives attracted another 40 scholars and practitioners. These initiatives took place in Jerusalem, Rome, Kylemore, and South Bend, allowing us to work with partners from more than ten countries across the Middle East, Europe, and North America. They helped us co-create new and valuable content, including a comprehensive policy report, case studies, book chapters, language instruction books, and a new season in our podcast series.
I invite you to review this short report, which includes stories, pictures, videos, and testimonials. It will hopefully pique your interest in partnering with us as we continue to grow our ecosystem in Jerusalem and the MENA region at large with and on behalf of our colleagues at the University of Notre Dame.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a meaningful holiday season.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Daniel Schwake
Executive Director, Notre Dame Jerusalem
