The comprehensive and systematic character of Thomas Aquinas’ thought has for centuries informed inquiry into questions of human dignity, freedom, economic development, work, poverty, the environment, and other issues of global significance. Celebrate the 800th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Aquinas, exploring the ongoing importance of his thought to contemporary cultural, philosophical, and theological discussions. In gathering many of the most accomplished contemporary scholars of Aquinas’ thought from throughout the world working on themes in Ethics, Metaphysics, Epistemology, Anthropology, Political Theory, Christology, Trinitarian Theology, Sacramental Theology and Ecclesiology, among others, this series promotes fruitful interchange of diverse perspectives on the importance of Aquinas in the world today.

Meet the Faculty: Joshua H. Lim ‘20 Ph.D.

Joshua H. Lim ’20 Ph.D. is Assistant Professor in Thomistic Studies in the department of Theology at the University of Notre Dame. He received a BA in 2009 from the University of California, Irvine; an MA in 2012 from Westminster Seminary California; an MA in 2014 from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies; and a Ph.D. in 2020 from the University of Notre Dame. He publishes in the area of medieval theology, focusing especially on the Christology of Thomas Aquinas within its medieval context.
Meet the Speaker: Frederick C. Bauerschmidt

Dr. Frederick C. Bauerschmidt is Professor of Theology at Loyola University Maryland and a deacon of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. He has published book on the theology of Thomas Aquinas and the Christian mystical tradition, as well as numerous articles on Catholic life and thought.
Meet the Speaker: Rev. Simon Francis Gaine, O.P.

Rev. Simon Francis Gaine, O.P. is a Dominican friar of the English Province. He studied theology in Oxford before joining the Order in 1995. He has served as both Prior and Regent of Blackfriars, Oxford. Before coming to Rome, he was a member of the Faculty of Theology and Religion in the University of Oxford. He is currently the Pinckaers Professor of Theological Anthropology and Ethics in the Angelicum Thomistic Institute, of which he is also the Director.
