Meet the Student: Michael McKenzie

Michael McKenzie is a senior mechanical engineering major and Chinese minor from Wilmington, Delaware. He will be graduating from the University of Notre Dame this spring. He took Approaching Asia because he was interested in learning about many of the implications of Asian history in the context of the present day. He chose to write about the Rohingya Refugee Crisis because he was moved by the footage he saw in the PBS Frontline Documentary “Myanmar’s Killing Fields.” He felt that there has to be better ways to both prevent and react to refugee crises, so he decided to investigate further.
