Meet the Faculty: Silvia Dall’Olio

Silvia Dall’Olio serves as the Director of Notre Dame Rome. In this role, she leads research collaborations, academic initiatives, and partnerships while managing academic programs, finances, and personnel. She is an Associate Teaching Professor in Notre Dame Global and a concurrent faculty in the Department of Romance Languages.
A trained acquisitional linguist, her academic expertise lies in second language acquisition, service and global learning, and international higher education management, which she supports through teaching, research, and publications. Silvia earned her laurea quinquennale from Università di Bologna, her master’s from the University of Notre Dame and her Ph.D. in linguistics and second language teaching from Università per Stranieri di Siena.
She currently serves as an Advisory Board member of the Center for Italian Studies at the University of Notre Dame and sits on the National Scientific Committee of Scuola di Alta Formazione EIS at Lumsa University.
Prior to her work at ND Rome, Silvia has taught in the Romance Languages Department at Notre Dame, as well as in Italy and in the state of Qatar, and has worked as an editor and a translator.
