Dating to the last quarter of the 15th century, the ms. Milan, Civic Historical Archive and Trivulziana Library, 85 conveys a lesson from Ser Giovanni’s Pecorone which well reflects what Edgar Morin happily defined in 1962 as l’esprit du temps. The discussion will analyze the linguistic facies that the copyist gives to his text, as well as the numerous subtractions and additions capable, potentially, of telling us a lot about the culture within which this book project was born and formed.
