After two years, Notre Dame researchers completed a climate risk assessment of more than 270 cities across the United States. The Urban Adaptation Assessment (UAA) provides the projected cost and probability of climate-related hazards to help these cities prepare and adapt to climate change.

With increases in urban populations, cities are struggling to answer the challenges of extreme heat, which kills an average of 130 people every year. In Chicago, officials have tried to mitigate these risks with green roofs to significantly lower temperatures.
