Race, Rights, and Great Power Politics: An update from the International Race and Rights Lab

Monday, November 28, 2022 9:30 am EST

The Black Lives Matter movement has shed light on a complex web of social, economic, and political factors driving continued racial injustice in the US. While we struggle to come to terms with these problems domestically, how are they viewed on the international stage? How is the US response to BLM used by other nations – in particular, by China – to shape public opinion?

Join Zoltán Búzás, associate professor of global affairs at the Keough School and director of the International Race and Rights Lab at the Klau Institute, as he and his student researchers present preliminary research into the forms that state-sponsored criticism of the US takes in Chinese media, and how race is used in great power politics to influence international perceptions. Join us on Monday, December 28, 2022, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. ET.
