NATO and the Unruly Politics of Alliance

Susan Colbourn is associate director of the Program in American Grand Strategy at Duke University. A historian of post-1945 international affairs, she specializes in the politics of European security, the role of nuclear weapons, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). She is the author of Euromissiles: The Nuclear Weapons That Nearly Destroyed NATO (Cornell, 2022). At present, she is writing a history of NATO from its founding to the present.
