International law evolved to end and prevent armed conflict as much as for any other reason. Yet, the law against war appears weaker today than ever in its long history, as evidenced by raging armed conflicts in which people are killed, injured, and forcibly displaced, the environment is devastated, and the planet is impoverished. These consequences can be traced to the dominant ideology of realism.

Muhammad Yunus, a social entrepreneur, banker, and economist from Bangladesh was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding the Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance. He delivered a keynote address as part of the Notre Dame Forum in 2018.

Scott Coppa '15 is the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Puente Desarrollo Internacional, a nonprofit organization that connects international development companies and local institutions with underserved communities to drive sustainable development. Puente uses cutting-edge technology and data services to address the lack of reliable health and socioeconomic data in these communities.
