Using two of the “Declaration” moments in American history and political thought, including the relationship between Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison and the congressional debate over the Spanish-American War, David Bobb and Tony Williams will make the case for the Declaration’s centrality as a touchstone for American debate.
