Mary Kate Cashman ’24 is an English Teaching Assistant in Kosovo through the Fulbright program. During her time as a Notre Dame student she conducted field research on integrated education in Northern Ireland, was a United Nations Women’s Leadership for Peace trainee, and studied in Bosnia & Herzegovina, Palestine-Israel, and Chile. After graduating, she spent a year as a Jesuit Volunteer/AmeriCorps member at a PreK-8 school on the Crow Reservation. Her academic and professional experiences have ignited my interests in community-led peace and reconciliation processes, transitional justice, and sovereignty in both the Western Balkans and the tribal nations of the United States.
