Asian Americans in an Anti-Black World

Join the Klau Center for Civil and Human Rights as Claire Jean Kim, professor of political science, University of California Irvine, and author of Dangerous Crossings: Race, Species, and Nature in a Multicultural Age, explores anti-Asian racism.

Kim’s writing has appeared in The Los Angeles Times and The Nation, and she is frequently sought out to speak on current events relating to race, social movements, animals, and ecology. Her first book, Bitter Fruit: The Politics of Black-Korean Conflict in New York City, received the Best Book Award from the American Political Science Association Organized Section on Race, Ethnicity, and Politics.

Building an Anti-Racist Vocabulary is a weekly lecture series presenting preeminent scholars, thought leaders, and public intellectuals to guide our community through topics necessary to a deeper understanding of systemic racism and racial justice.
